Day #4 How to Deal With Loss

Hello Again!
For this final blog post for my #techwell class I will be talking about loss. This topic comes into play with your social emotional health and is very important to your overall wellness. This past weekend, my friend Jake was killed on Saturday in a tragic hunting accident with his own gun. He was 19. Then on Sunday my someone I knew committed suicide and hung themselves. As my small community deals with these unexpected blows I wanted this to be a reminder to always use all safety measures and always find help if you need it or let others be there to help you. If you attend SRU, the student health center is always there to talk.

  1. The deaths of 2 young individuals from your home town saddens me deeply. I am sorry to hear about such a tragedy, no community should have to deal with such an event. The friends and families will be in my heart this break and afterwards as they morn the loss of their loved ones. Accidents, sad as they sometimes are, happen sometimes but suicide is a different demon. I believe that everyone has something to live for and it is important for everyone to be aware of that. Even when it feels as if everyone is against you, there are still hotlines and other resources available that can help you through what you are dealing with. If you or a loved one seems off PLEASE reach out to them and let them know that you are thinking about them. This thanksgiving I will be hyper aware and be extra thankful for my friends and family this break. I wish the best on yours and hope that your community will recover as quickly as possible.
